More About Us We’re two happy, healthy and blessed kids. We have a warm home, lots of food, good schools and so much to be thankful for. We want to give back and help kids who don’t have as much as we do.
Grace is a teen going to school in the Portland area. She coordinated a big car wash shortly after the Indian Ocean tsunami hit in 2004, and raised over $1100. Not long afterwards, she and her mom found a story about kids with malaria. When Grace realized how many children were dying, and how easily malaria can be treated, she knew this was what she wanted to do. She decided to organize to raise money to save kids lives.
“Mom, just not going to Starbuck’s for a month will save a child’s life. We have so much. Kids shouldn’t be dying of malaria when it can be treated. Let’s see what we can do to help”.
It didn’t take much conversation for her big brother, Preston, to join in. Preston decided that this could be more than just “kids helping kids”. “Kids can make a difference, and adults will want to help us!” said Preston. He suggested that kids could also reach out to local businesses and community leaders. So, between Grace and Preston, and the help from their parents, friends and Medical Teams International, they have put together an outreach for the entire Portland area.
- They are organizing their friends to gather donations and spread the word.
- They’re working in their schools and at church to look for people to donate.
- They are contacting local businesses asking for support.
- They created this website, flyers and letters asking for donations. Read our story.
- They are sending out press releases and are organizing a press conference.
- They worked with Medical Teams International to simplify how donations can be processed, and get more information about malaria and Africa.
Kids can help kids. Kids can fight malaria. Please help join our cause by giving generously to Medical Teams International.
$ .96 of every dollar donated goes directly to saving these African kids’ lives.
